PowerPutt Hole Showcases are here, ready to turn your –10's into –15's and your –20's into record low scores!
The next hole to get turned inside out is Dusty Trail #8, a par-4 that is ripe for the taking if you can avoid disaster and time your tee shot just right.
Perhaps the most charismatic hole in the game, Dusty 8 takes us through and eventually into the gallows of the Wild West. The hole-layout is somewhat simple in design and the goal is plain to see. Beyond the ramp in front of the tee box are three separate trapdoors that lead to a lower level where the pin is located. The trick here, however, is that the pin is located on the furthest part of the lower level meaning you'll have to reach the furthest door to give yourself a shot at the ace.
The absolute biggest no-no to avoid is to send your ball sailing off the ramp and out of bounds on your tee shot. Yes, you will need to give your shot some pace in order to get it to the third door, but going OB here simply isn't an option.
The next area to avoid is to go beyond all three doors and onto the other side of the area below. If you end up too far but still in play, you will not have a straight putt at the hole because of the perfectly placed guardrail. This danger zone won't ruin your round, but it will likely prevent you from walking away with an eagle.
If you're going to miss, make sure you come up short of the final door and end up on the same level as the hole. Going in the 3rd trapdoor is ideal, but ending up in any of the three works.
As long as you fall to this level and aren't beyond the cup, you should have a very makeable flat putt for birdie. As many of you already know, these kinds of putts are hard to come by. For those of you who are still dead set on getting this ace, however, you're going to have to me spot on with your timing. Getting beyond the first two and into the last door isn't just risky; it's also going to require some practice and perhaps a few failures.
Still, with the proper speed and timed shot it can be done. If you can manage to pull off an elusive ace on a par-4 you could be in for a big score on that round. And isn't this what it's all about?
