PowerPutt Hole Showcases are here, ready to turn your –10's into –15's and your –20's into record low scores!

The next hole to be tackled is Dusty Trail #17, a critical par-3 that could be the difference between a –30 and a –29, or a win versus a loss.

Any hole in PowerPutt or Golden Tee for that matter, that is the 17th or 18th hole, is going to be very important on the scorecard. It's late in the game, the pressure is on, and chances are the hole is going to provide quite a punch as you near the clubhouse.

Hole 17 on Dusty fits this profile EXACTLY! Before we talk about the "how" let's check out how it sets up.

As seen in the picture above, the very obvious pieces of this hole are the small hill positioned oh so perfectly in front of the cup, and the small body of water positioned even more perfectly on the side.

Beyond the hill, hole, and hazard is a drop off to a second tiered portion of the hole. Any shot hit beyond this point will almost certainly go to this area. The hole is setup - now here's what you should do.

In order to get the hole-in-one you're going to have to play the break on the hill perfectly. When struck correctly, your shot will go up and over the hill while bending to the left (when hit with the proper speed), and fold right into the cup. This means you'll need to start your shot just left of the tallest portion of this bump. Easy right? Not so much.Dusty 17

When your shot is hit at the hill with insufficient speed, it's going in the water. No question about it. Mastering this shot takes touch, and A LOT of practice. Unfortunately with this will probably come some failure also, aka a few water balls.

To avoid this; however, try this at first by hitting the ball with enough power that it will no doubt make it over the hill without folding over into the water. The next time through you can adjust both your speed and direction and go from there. After five to ten times, you should have a good idea of what you need to do. This is a great way to learn the hole without getting a penalty stroke every time you try it.

The WORST thing you can do is go in the water.

Too hard, and you'll end up down below in the second tier with a putt for birdie. Not bad at all. While this second putt won't be the easiest one you've ever taken, at least you've given yourself a shot at being under par for the hole.

This shot on seventeen might be the toughest one to repeat in the game. While the word "practice" is thrown around an awful lot; that really is the remedy to master this hole. Do that, and you'll almost certainly pick up strokes against opponents at the most critical time of your game!
