PowerPutt Hole Showcases are here, ready to turn your –10's into –15's and your –20's into record low scores! The next hole to be conquered is Freaky Tiki #3, a par-4 that can really set the tone for the rest of the round.
The biggest misconception and error on this hole is going for a hole-in-one. As much as you'd like to believe there is a method or secret to get an ace, it simply isn't possible and trying for it will cause more harm than good.
The hole is setup with three large tiki statues positioned in front of the tee area. The tiki statues are placed in a triangular shape, with one in front and two placed shortly behind it. Beyond the statues is the hole; tucked in the far left corner that can only be seen once you are beyond the statue area. There is also a second tier portion of the hole that dips down a ramp beyond this area.
The first shot on Freaky 3 is the toughie, and may take at least a few rounds to really perfect. The goal of this shot should be to get your ball beyond the tiki statues, but not far enough to send you rolling down the hill on the other side. In order to do this, you must turn right and bounce the ball off the wall and through the open area between the statues.
This shot may vary depending on what tee area you are given, but it will be somewhere near the blue tiki light seen in the picture. Make sure to hit the appropriate spot! Getting your ball through the statues should be your top priority. If you hit a statue you'll immediately bounce backwards and will likely have to settle for par if not worse.
The speed is also crucial once you have your line picked out. Don't crush it; but get it through. A smooth shot should do just fine. Doing this will put you out in the top area and give you a flat putt for eagle. If you over hit this shot, you'll likely go down to the tier below and will almost certainly lose a stroke.
The trick to this hole is that there is no trick. Play smart, learn the first shot, and you'll end up with a very important eagle almost every time. The third hole won't ruin your round, but if you're looking for an all-time best it might get you going in the right direction!
